Returning to sports and daily life activities
People’s lives gradually returned to normal once the outbreak ended. At the same time, the demand for health promotion increased.
This is also one of the reasons that people are interested in riding bicycles. Like other mass sports, cycling is appropriate for individuals of all ages, from youngsters to those in their fifties…

More and more people are showing up to engage in the experience, and some are even aware of the benefits of cycling, making it a weekly routine. Cycling around West Lake is not only a healthy exercise for them, but it also allows them to explore the serene nature that surrounds them.
So, have you ever wondered what experiences the growing trend of cycling around West Lake brings to the local business community?
Bike rental service “follow-up” bustling around West Lake
According to the Vérité reporter, at a period when many individuals highly appreciated this form of healthy exercise, store owners instantly noticed the tendency and started a bicycle rental business.

Bicycle Rental Store in West Lake
Last year, gyms and swimming pools were closed due to social distancing; as a result, people rush to West Lake to hire bicycles as an alternative to their old health regular workouts. It appeared that this was a simple business with easy profit margins; however, when people’s typical schedules resume, they can only hire bicycles in the early morning and late afternoon – two periods when people generally have the freest time of the day; or on weekends.
Mr. Trung, the owner of AE’s Bicycle shop on Trich Sai Street stated:
“Usually on Saturday and Sunday, the quantity of vehicles in the store is not even sufficient to serve customers, but in general, the number of visitors is relatively small, especially when compared to the previous year.”

Increasingly businesses are anticipated to compete as cycling in West Lake becomes more popular. Furthermore, the route surrounding West Lake is rather broad and contains a lot of turns customers will determine the most suitable bicycle rental locations along their way from home. According to Mr. Trung, the owner of a bicycle rental store at 21 Trich Sai, the people who come to his shop to rent a bike are all loyal customers or those who have been introduced by those same customers.
Furthermore, while conducting business in this sort of service, the shop owners must be responsible for employing security guards to take turns taking care of customers’ automobiles, as well as ensuring that they have a proper lock if they leave their motorbike at the store to rent a bike.
Bicycles riding along West Lake’s main road might be considered a source of income for people who provide bicycle rental services or run food and beverage businesses.
However, Ho Tay bicycle rentals must compete not only with one another but also with the urban bicycle model in the near future. In phase one, Hanoi is going to start a bicycle rental service for six urban regions. The Lac Long Quan, Thanh Nien, Thuy Khue, Hoang Hoa Tham, and Trich Sai routes in Tay Ho District have 242 vehicles. This is also a problem for Ho Tay’s current private bike rental stores since bike rental locations on the roads near Tay Ho become direct competitors.
